Excerpt
Snow White missed her mother desperately. The house was so empty without her, meals were so quiet. Snow's father was an excellent provider, but he did not like to talk and had never been affectionate.
One day at dinner, Snow startled to hear her father's voice, "I have found a new wife. We will be married in a month. You will meet her at the wedding. I want you to be a witness at the registrar's." And that was that. Nothing more was said, the arrangements had all been made.
Bio
A native of Georgia, I have lived in Seattle for 28 years. I have been a writer since the age of 11 when I wrote a play about an alien family. My early influences are Marvin the Martian and "Gilligan's Island." I became familiar with Clarion West through a friend who is a science fiction writer. I haven't quit my day job as a social worker yet, but I am finally writing regularly and posting my creative writing to my blog. I live with my cat in the suburbs of Seattle. I value a good editor.
Writing Description
I write mostly nature poetry, short stream-of-consciousness prose, and short stories.
Goals
I plan to finish and polish two short stories currently titled "Growing Up Snow," and "Yards." I will write at least two stream-of-consciousness pieces each week. I will write a short essay about how gay I was before I came out as gay, as part of a collaboration with a group of writers.
