Excerpt

"I don't know what you're going to do with all this when I'm gone," she said, waving a half-eaten, crisp slice of bacon over the table between them. It was early and the sun was still low enough to peek behind the eastern lip of the smog roof that sat parked over Los Angeles like a smothering pillow. Fleeting shafts of bright morning light danced into their kitchen and burnished the browns of her arm with gold, set the grease on her fingers to sparkling. Eric had to admit she had a point. The traficantes he had bought the livemeat from would not take the uneaten portions back.

Bio

According to Facebook, Gary likes to "eat, work in coffee shops, browse, and walk around." He also owns a high-powered telescope he needs to look through more often. He works as journalist and web consultant, and attended Clarion West in 2007.

Publications

Still waiting on a genre publication, but my non-fiction writing appears regularly in Bidoun Magazine and on The Root. My favorite Bidoun pieces ever are here and here.

Writing Description

Afrofuturist. Lots of long sentences.

Goals

My post-Clarion West slump has been something awful, so I still need to revise the six stories from there. I also have two stories that I started at Clarion West and abandoned that I'd like to finish.

I'm going to try to raise $150 by any means necessary, possible, and legal.
