Excerpt:
Brian came awake at some dead hour of the morning. He had been dreaming about playing catch with his son. In the dream they stood on a grassy slope in Steel Lake Park, near the old neighborhood. David was a young boy again. The baseball sailed between their gloves, and the good world, the lost world, was restored. Then something woke Brian and it was over, his son was gone -- as if David had stepped out of the dream, and the sound of his passage had awakened Brian, like a person leaving the bedroom and pulling the door shut.-- from Steel Lake
Bio:
I've been publishing professionally since 2003. This is a good thing, since I wrote for decades prior to that without selling a word. Most of my thirty short stories can be found in the Golden Gryphon collection, "Are You There." My first novel, Harbinger, appeared in 2009. Since then I've finished one new novel and am about ten thousand words from completing a second. I live in Seattle with my wife, writer Nancy Kress, plus a neurotic poodle and a wayward daughter who is in between semesters at film school.

Writing Description:
Mostly cloudy with occasionally sun breaks.
Writing Goals:
Since I am working on a novel I plan to do 500 words a day, every day. It's possible I will get a few more than that on weekends.
