Excerpt

Consider the dollar bill. Creased, folded, by pairs, by twenties, into origami shapes of dragon, of verdant cranes, of treasure boxes but empty of treasure. Now consider the treasury vault, filled with paper boxes, as lacking in substance as a vault filled with only air.

Vaults are for landowners, and how many of those will there be when the people fold their money into origami boxes? Inside each box, a breath of air--still free. What is the value of an inhalation of oxygen? Is it greater than the bit of cellulose that breathed it out in the first place?

Goals

I will be working on my two novels-in-progress. My goal is 500 words per day, six days per week.

As for donations: having money is so 2008. I am participating in the Write-a-thon as an act of defiance against the man. To my friends and supporters: I would ask you to perform an act of creativity this summer. And if you've $5 or $10 in your pocket that you'd like to donate to Clarion West, that's a nice bonus.
