Excerpt
The American, whose name has since been forgotten, came to Yekaterinburg in the Ural Mountains in the year 1817. He was a young man and whatever disgrace had driven him so far had been left behind in his native Philadelphia. Somehow he had found work as the secretary of an American industrialist who, along with his wife, was making a tour of Russia with a particular eye to the natural riches of the Ural Mountains.

Goals
A short-short or podcast script for every day of the workshop. Monday through Friday one written each day in real-time. Weekends maybe written on those days or maybe written on the days before. Seven works a week, five of 'em guaranteed to be written on those days.
I will Tuckerize anybody (that is, use their name in a story) who is willing to make a small contribution to CW specifically for that purpose -- let's say ten bucks or more. I'll write you your own short-short and post it online at floggingbabel.blogspot.com and in the Write-a-thon topic of Clarion West's Forums. (Limited to the 42 stories I'll write for Clarion West.) Thanks everyone! Michael's 42 stories are all taken. You can read them, a new one every day, in the Clarion West Forums and on Michael's blog. You can sponsor another writer here, or just plain make a donation here. Clarion West is run almost entirely by volunteers, and we appreciate your donation, should you choose to make one.
