Stephanie Burgis

Excerpt
I was twelve years of age when I chopped off my hair, dressed as a boy, and set off to save my family from impending ruin. I made it almost to the end of my front garden....
From the opening of Kat, Incorrigible (aka "A Most Improper Magick")
Bio
I'm a U.S. writer who met my British husband, Patrick Samphire, at Clarion West in 2001. Now I live in Wales with him, our toddler son ("Mr Darcy"), and our crazy-sweet border collie mix, Maya. My Regency fantasy trilogy for 10- to 15-year-olds is being published in both the US and the UK. The first novel has been published in the US as Kat, Incorrigible and in the UK as A Most Improper Magick. My short fiction has appeared in several magazines and anthologies, including Strange Horizons, Fantasy Magazine, and BEWERE THE NIGHT (ed. E. Sedia).
Publications
"True Names" in Strange Horizons
"Offerings" in Fantasy Magazine
"The Five Days of Justice Merriwell" in Beneath Ceaseless Skies
Writing Description
My novels for kids are lighthearted Regency fantasy adventures, while my short fiction is mostly darker fantasy, written for adults.
Goals
This year I want to write at least 3,000 words a week, every week of the write-a-thon.
I'm happy to offer anyone who supports me on the Write-a-thon a special sneak peek of the first three chapters of Kat Book 2 (a.k.a., Renegade Magic in the US, and A Tangle of Magicks in the UK).
