Vicki Saunders

Excerpt
His emerging, spiky pinfeathers itched. He rubbed them, loosening the plastic-y sheaths between his fingers and springing the feathers free. The wings rose two hand’s breadths above his head. Extended, each was longer than Marvel himself. They weighed so little that he kept forgetting about them and banging them on the furniture of New Being’s recovery suite. They radiated body heat. How could bats stand to expose their thin wings to the night? No wonder they beat them so fast. No wonder they clutched them to their chests. He wrapped himself in blankets.
Bio
Vicki Saunders lives on an island in the Pacific Northwest. She attended the Clarion West Writers Workshop in 2009. Now she's back on the island sending out manuscripts, editing the local astronomy newsletter, publicizing sundials, and hoping the rain will stop before the solstice.
She's also the new Clarion West Interim Art Director, so you can blame her for those odd drawings on this year's Clarion West Summer Party Schedule. (Check out the dirigible on the reverse, and google Albert Robida. And come to the parties.)
Writing Description
I love the weirdness of the natural world. I hope to express it.
Goals
Let's see. Two hundred and fifty words a day for 42 days = 10,500 words by the end of Clarion West 2011. No way; you think so? Think I can? Here goes....
Fundraising? It's up to you all.
