Does age matter?
Submitted by laurencallison on February 9, 2008 - 3:41pm.
I always feel like I apply/start doing things too early. I'm only 20 they said they've had people that young before but is this going to be an issue? Will I feel out of place if I get accepted? I have serious doubts I have a chance of getting accepted but I'm at least going to try because I know I'd be disappointed if I didn't.

Ah, I know I'm a bit late in responding, but wanted to chime in on the issue, too. I was the youngest in my class (I was 21 at the time) and I still had an absolutely wonderful experience.
To be clichéd (oy, sorry!) age really is just a number. I was a little self-conscious at the beginning, but once I stopped thinking about it, it didn't matter. And it was never an issue with my classmates.
Also: it is *never* too early to try things. Kudos to you for not being too intimidated to try (and good luck for your application!)

Every class is different.
Every class is different. At 20, you would likely be among the youngest in the class, if accepted, but it shouldn't be a problem. I really enjoyed seeing the different perspectives from people of different ages and backgrounds.
My class on average was much younger than most. One of my classmates was 20. Most classes I've seen have at least one person in their early 20's and one in their 60's or 70's.

Thanks
That makes me feel a little bit better. That it would be an anomoly or anything. Gives me a little hope. Thanks for replying. I just hope I can pull this off.
