Thanks for a Great Write-a-thon

Our 9th Clarion West Write-a-thon is over, and it was the most successful ever. In the last three years we've doubled the total of funds the Write-a-thon raises, thanks to strong community support. And we've tripled the number of participating authors, meeting--then soaring past--our 2012 goal of 200 participants. 228 writers signed up this year, including both beginners and seasoned professionals such as N.K. Jemisin and Elizabeth Bear. We received just short of $22,000 in gifts in these writers' names, from over 400 people. (There's still time to donate in support of the Write-a-thon, of course.)

Our 228 participants in the 2012 Write-a-thon put together the stories they had been dreaming of, revised novels, created poems, and just generally gave their focus over to writing in ways not normally allowed. Weekly Tweetchats helped them share tips and questions about the Wat process, and have led to monthly non-Write-a-thon Clarion West Tweetchats.

We're very grateful to everyone who has helped make the 2012 Write-a-thon a fun and effective way to celebrate writing and Clarion West. You'll find the full, impressive list of 2012 Write-a-thon author names here.
