OK, so I'm thinking of flying over for WorldCon. There was a mention in the autumn newsletter of some special CW event going on - do we know what it is yet? Who's going?

Come party with Clarion West Executive Director Leslie Howle and your fellow alumni in the SFWA Suite (the Presidential Suite at Sheraton Hotel) at Denvention this Friday evening, August 8, 7:30-9 PM. Celebrate 25 workshops in a row, with a cheerful and respectful nod to the three Clarion West workshops in the seventies.
Congratulate Leslie on the successful conclusion of the 2008 workshop. Tell tall tales about the workshop you attended. Ask "Whatever happened to so-and-so?" Eat cake at 8:45. Watch the party blend seamlessly into the Asimov's and Analog party immediately afterward.
I emailed this out to as many CW class lists as possible in July, but in case you didn't see this earlier, we're on the eve of World Con in Denver and ’m looking forward to seeing as many CW alum as possible this weekend. It’s the 25th Anniversary of Clarion West, can you believe it?! Here's what's happening.
Exhibit! We’ve got a cool exhibit in the convention center with posters, class lists and pictures from most years. We’re missing T-shirts and/or photos from some classes, so if you have any from your year you'd like to share with us for the scrapbook, please bring them to Denvention! I’ll be staying in the Hyatt Regency, just leave me a message at the desk. Make sure you put your name on the back of any photos you use. The Clarion West Exhibit will be at the Exhibit Hall (CCC, Exhibit Hall D)
Panel!! If you will be at Denvention on Thursday morning, please come to the "Clarion West – 25 years of Fantastic Stories" panel at 10 AM. It's a tough break that our panel is Thursday morning since some of you won't have arrived yet, but please show up if you can! The good thing is that it will give all of the CW alum a time and place to meet up early in the con. Please join David Hartwell, Nancy Kress, Diane Dieter, me, and other alum to remember 25 years of workshops!
Party!!! We’ll be celebrating the Clarion West 25th anniversary with a party that will start at 7:30 pm Friday night in the SFWA suite on the sixth floor of the Sheraton Plaza Building. They don't know the suite number yet but I'm sure it will be well-marked. OUr party will be followed immediately afterwards by the Asimov's party, so it will be a good place to party Friday night.
I look forward to seeing you in Denver!

This summer Clarion West held its twenty-fifth consecutive workshop. Alumni, students, and instructors return to the oral tradition as they regale us with stories of inspiration, perspiration, and humor at Clarion West. What has the workshop experience meant to them, both as writers and individuals? How has this intensive six-week workshop influenced the field over the last 25 years? Audience participation encouraged!
About eight of us from the '06 class are going. And from your class at least two that I know of--Gary and someone else he neglected to mention to me. It would be lovely to see you there!
I tried to buy a ticket today, only to find that my credit card is maxed, boo hiss. But as soon as it's paid off - in a week or so - I'll get my membership.
