Campaign for Real Fear

Hi folks,

I'm Maura McHugh, a Clarion West alum, and I'm running a competition with author Christopher Fowler called the Campaign for Real Fear: we're looking for 500-word horror stories that reflect 21st century life.

In particular we are looking for diversity in our writers, and their characters and themes. If you feel your background has not been represented in horror fiction recently then write us a story that scares us and send it in.

We want challenging, dark fiction that surprises us and reflects the new fears of our modern world. Anyone - beginner or pro - can enter.

The top ten entries will be published in British horror magazine Black Static, and Action Audio will be producing an audio book version of the winning entries for sale via Audible. The authors (and narrators) will share equally in any revenue received from sales of the audio book.

The deadline for entries is 5pm GMT, Friday the 16th of April, 2010.

Feel free to forward this information about the competition to any of your colleagues. Please make it difficult for us to choose the top ten! Laughing

If you want change, you better write it.
