Excerpt

The banger from her mother should have clued me in. I liked her mother, but I was not particularly enamored of the idea of banging her, or being banged. Poking was bad enough.

Then her sister chimed in. “U shld do ite. Dont want to loose her, doo U?"

I didn't need advice from someone who spelled worse than a chimpanzee, Twitspeak or no.

Contact with her family wasn't exactly making me want to join them. I mean, I was married to the woman. We'd had a big expensive two hundred guest wedding, with all the trimmings and three different officiants to please each of our mothers and her step-mom. Legal and recognized in slightly over half the United States. Wasn't that enough?

Bio

I have a typical post-Clarion West story. I had a post-workshop period of excellent productivity while doing temp contract work and garnered lots of those “You write pretty but not for us” letters and honorable mentions. I won a flash fiction contest and got that story into a small anthology. I finished a draft of a novel, "The Radical Fairy," in the 2010 Write-a-thon, and found that it needed a lot more work. Then my computer imploded and I managed to turn the day job into a full time, demanding career.

Now it's time to start really writing again.

Writing Description

I write speculative fiction with a focus on queer characters or points of view. I like to squawk about science and technology, but my geekdom is social theory.

Writing Goals

I will spend an hour a day, five days a week sitting in the chair at the computer, actually writing.

Fundraising Goals

I have various nefarious fundraising plans. And I recruited someone with more non-Clarion West friends.
