Apply Now: Summer Write-a-thon Program Intern

Clarion West is seeking a program intern for the annual Write-a-thon (WAT) and Flash Fiction Groups this summer. The Write-a-thon is our largest annual fundraiser and community event and runs concurrently with our six-week writing workshop. The Write-a-thon provides opportunities for writers to set and reach writing goals in community, either independently or as part of our flash fiction groups. We host weekly online writing classes via Zoom, writing meetups in Discord and in-person, and help participants form writing/critique groups.

Write-a-thon participants are also invited to join local social events with the six-week workshop students, instructors, and local writing community. The online format allows us to work with writers all over the world and provide often solitary writers an opportunity for community, accountability, and social and professional engagement.

One of the most popular components of the WAT is our Flash Fiction Groups, in which writers are matched in small groups to write and critique short stories over the course of the Write-a-thon. Many of the groups formed during the WAT continue to meet today!

Position Description: This position is a key support role for the WAT program staff and will provide hands-on experience in a variety of areas, including events production, marketing, communication, and program administration. Learn to develop programs, manage volunteers, and the daily operations of a nonprofit writing organization.
