Visual Metaphor: Writing that Inspires Art with Grace P. Fong and Nilah Magruder

Event Date:

May 14, 2022

Event Time (Pacific):

11:00 am

Learn how to worldbuild like an artist, even when you’re using words!

Ever wonder why some books get fan art, and others don’t? Artists utilize symbolism, color theory, and visual metaphor to communicate ideas in much the same way writers use words and sentence structure. When we take an artist’s tools and apply them to the written word, we add levels of meaning to our work that create a deeper experience for the reader.

This class will cover worldbuilding, illustration, color, and metaphor, and help writers learn to use visual language to create characters that readers will remember, and artists will draw and cosplay.

For writers of all levels. No advance preparation is required.
