What I Write

What I Write

I continue to write to entertain rather than instruct.  A lot of what you’ll see with my name on it is space opera or  otherwise anti-dystopian, which these days is not the same thing as Utopian. The key ought to be the old  SFnal goshwow and fun rather than an overwhelming gloom, though sometimes there’s an edge in there, sometime there’s hope in there.

Most recent: Neogenesis (novel from Baen) with Sharon Lee,  also, “Revolutionists” June 2018, short story in Razor’s Edge from ZNB.

My Write-a-thon Goals

Writing Goals

I hope to finish two short stories and the first two chapters of a Liaden Universe novel during the Write-a-thon.

Fundraising Goals

My goal is simply to ask folks to invest a few dollars in the future of our genre.  Understand that the creative life is fraught with money issues and invest here to help bring more folks to Clarion West, help someone with a Patreon goal. I was probably the most unlikely student of Clarion West in 1973; my ongoing successful relationship with the field shows that bringing unlikely students to the field gives readers a satisfaction that keeps the field healthy.
