What I Write
Mira knows she has messed up.
No one ends up on a roof top ledge with the red dots of laser sights playing over their chest by accident. An air car doesn’t just hover behind you, it’s large gun trained on your back by chance. It starts with some questionable choices. It starts during a meeting in your agent’s office. It starts with needing to do something special to impress sponsors. It starts by logging in to the virtual world of the Simulated High Interactivity Network. It starts at night, under a starless sky in one of the many virtual realms in the SHIN, a city of endless night.
Mira stands at the edge of Dark City, looks up at the inky black sky, imagines it’s what the sky would look like from the last remaining planet at the end of all things, when the universe has grown cold and dark. She shakes the thought from her head and looks east, towards the center of the city, to the sole glimmer of light in the city, Savage Tower, a thirty-five-story skyscraper shining like a beacon amid the silent, dark, empty buildings. The stronghold of Clan Cyberdigm.
|What I Write||
I write Science/Speculative Fiction. I love to explore technology and our interactions with it, but also with our relationships with each other and society at large. I used to write a lot of shorter work, but I’ve been mainly writing novel-length pieces lately. I would like to get back to short stories.
I’ve had two stories published. Once, way back in college, and then again a few years ago as part of a collaborative NaNoWriMo collection of short stories.
My Write-a-thon Goals
My goal is to write for at least 30 minutes a day through the course of the write-a-thon. I don’t write enough right now, and I need to rededicate myself to it.
