My Progress

Words: 26,882

Status: I underestimated how much travel and a weekly conference would impact my ability to draft. Lesson learned. Still plugging away, but with edits back on another book and a looming deadline, I think I may take this as is and count it as a win. Will update if I get more in.

Mood: Feeling derailed but happy with what I’ve done

Words: 14685

Status: Stride. Hit.

Mood: There’s a lot of things I need to know more about –

tailoring/clothing alteration
can werewolves eat chocolate?

Words: 9300
Status: Mostly outlined and starting to flush out a few later scenes that have been calling out for attention. I rarely write scenes out of order though, so I’m afraid I’m going to wind up having to fix a lot later. Still, onward.
Mood: Is it time to organize my spice drawer yet (again)?

What I Write

What I Write

I write romantic urban fantasy (“things that go bump in the night, including headboards”) as Jasmine Silvera, and after years of editing the webzine GigaNotoSaurus, I’m finally ready to flex my short fiction muscles again.

Death’s Dancer | Dancer’s Flame | The Talon & the Blade (as Jasmine Silvera)

“Small Strange Towns” Giganotosaurus.org (as Rashida J. Smith)

My Write-a-thon Goals

Writing Goals

I’m using the write-a-thon as an opportunity to “zero draft” (h/t Fonda Lee) the second book in a Grace Bloods prequel trilogy. No edits, no revisions, just aiming to hit a 65K wordcount goal.

Think of it as a summertime NaNo.

Fundraising Goals

My goal is to raise $250 for Clarion West!
