Do you ever write yourself into a corner? Concoct a plot so devilishly brilliant that you can’t find your own way through it? Discover a hundred (or a thousand!) pages too late that an essential foundational element of your masterpiece is missing? Or perhaps your mcguffin needs a tune-up, your heroine’s middle name seems wrong for the color of her fingernails, or your well of snappy dialogue has run dry…

Never fear! Despite COVID and appropriate social distancing, other writers are still here!

Join a small, friendly group of writers to dissect, discuss, and possibly even resolve your writerly conundrums.

Prior to meeting, the five registered participants will provide brief descriptions of their works-in-progress, along with specific questions for the group. Then, during each two-hour moderated collaborative story-doctoring session, we will brainstorm solutions.

We welcome fiction writers of any genres and of all backgrounds to this safe and inclusive venue.

This session meets on multiple dates. Please register for one session at a time.

This workshop is available to anyone aged 18 or older for a $0 fee.

Unless otherwise stated, all times listed are US Pacific Time.

We offer a limited number of scholarships for each class to Black and Indigenous writers and writers from other marginalized backgrounds on a first come, first served basis. Please email us at workshop@clarionwest.org with a one-paragraph statement about your scholarship interest and/or need. Please include the name of the class you would like to apply the scholarship to.

Clarion West will refund all class fees if the request is made 30 days prior to the class date. Refund requests made within 30 days of the class will be honored if we can fill the seat. Any exceptions are subject to approval by our workshop staff.
