In this two-day workshop, we’ll draw on our own experiences and on places we’ve inhabited (or avoided setting foot in) to create a haunted house story that feels true to life and, we hope, is truly frightening. Day 1 will consist of discussion and exercises. The following day will be a break (no instruction) to allow participants to write, and then on Day 2, writers can read their work aloud — either a piece of flash fiction or the beginning (or end or middle) of a story.

This workshop is available to anyone aged 18 or older for a $75 fee.

Unless otherwise stated, all times listed are US Pacific Time.

We offer a limited number of scholarships for each class to Black and Indigenous writers and writers from other marginalized backgrounds on a first come, first served basis. Please email us at workshop@clarionwest.org with a one-paragraph statement about your scholarship interest and need. Please include the name of the class you would like to apply the scholarship to.
