Are you looking to bring a more personalized and dynamic writing and critiquing experience to your summer?
Whether you’re looking to polish your flash fiction skills, connect with other writers, or just enjoy the thrill of weekly creative challenges, the Flash Fiction Groups are a perfect fit. Mark your calendars so you don’t miss out on this opportunity to level up your writing with us this summer!
Write and submit a flash fiction story each week, learn a variety of critique methods and exchange critiques with peers, and receive guidance to sharpen your storytelling skills—all in a supportive, small-cohort setting.
Structure:
- Small writing groups (6-8 writers, max!).
- Weekly pre-recorded video lectures by this year’s flash fiction mastermind covering the nuts and bolts of craft elements.
- 4 weeks, 4 stories, and weekly story prompts to ignite your creativity.
- Participate on Discord for a seamless, self-hosted story-sharing experience.
- Weekly raffle to have your story critiqued by our Flash Fiction Mastermind.
- Back by popular demand: First-week critiques return – jumpstart the process!

What’s New This Year?
- Register earlier, and raise funds ahead of time.
- Build your personalized fundraising page with our easy-to-use template.
- Learn pro-level fundraising tips to help you meet your goals.
- Set your pledges and writing goals to inspire your supporters.
- Set Your Goals (July 6–12): fundraising rewards announced, leaderboards cheered, and final fundraising push this week. Last-minute registrations assisted with final fundraising efforts. Finalize and prepare to meet your writing goals!
- Focused Writing Time from July 12-26: the fundraising is done, time to meet your summer writing goals! During the two weeks of Write-a-thon, you’ll receive:
- Daily writing prompts.
- Find writing sprints and a writing community in Discord & in-person (in Seattle).
- Join in some amazing Q&A sessions with Clarion West Instructors (for all sessions unlocked during fundraising)!
The Write-a-thon is more than a chance to focus on your writing—it’s a way to give back to the writing community. When you donate, or raise money for Clarion West, you support:
- Finding a permanent home for our six-week, in-person workshop.
- Low-cost access to classes for writers of all levels.
- Scholarships for emerging writers who wouldn’t otherwise have access.
- Year-round community programming to connect and inspire writers around the globe.
