Annual Two Hour Transport & Clarion West Open Mic Event 

You’re invited to join the annual combination event:

Two Hour Transport and Clarion West present: open-mic readings at the Magnuson Cafe & Brewery, 7801 62nd Ave NE in Seattle. Arrive in person from 4:30–4:55 pm for the open-mic signup, or by 5 pm for the start of the show. We’ll be meeting on the outdoor patio of the cafe.

You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy brews and a full cafe menu, plus an evening of great in-person science fiction readings. (NOTE: The usual Two Hour Transport online readings will resume August 22.)

SCHEDULE

• 4:30-4:55 pm — Sign-ups for the Open Mic (5-minute slots)
• 5-6 pm — Intro and Open Mic Readings
• 6-6:15 pm — Break
• 6:15-7:15 p.m. — More Open Mic Readings
• 7:15-8 — Social time

Reading slots will be 5 minutes. We request that readers present only their original work and do not present material that has been written with or by AI.

Bring flash, poetry, or excerpts from your short stories or longer works. We want to hear what you’ve been working on!

DIRECTIONS

You’ll find the Magnuson Cafe & Brewery at 7801 62nd Ave. NE, at the far north end of Magnuson Park. When coming from Sandpoint Way NE by car:

• Enter the park on NE 74th St.
• Turn left onto 63rd Ave NE
• Turn left onto NE 77th (which curves around and becomes 62nd Ave NE)
• Continue along 62nd Ave NE to the brewery

Arriving by bus? Both the 62 and the 75 Metro Transit bus lines stop at the NE 74th St. entrance to the park, and from there it’s a half-mile walk to the Brewery (following the car directions above).

Arriving by bike or on foot? Check a map for your options. You can reach the Brewery from Sand Point Way NE or from the Burke Gilman Trail via walking paths and bike paths, as well as by the street directions above.
