We are a 501c3 nonprofit with the mission of supporting emerging and underrepresented voices by providing writers with world-class instruction to empower their creation of wild and amazing worlds. Through conversation and public engagement, we bring those voices to an ever-expanding community. In 2020-2021, Clarion West distributed $42,037 in scholarships to writers across the world. In the last two years alone, our alumni have published 94 short stories and 12 novels and have been nominated for 56 industry awards.
In 2021, our YouTube channel received 4,631 views of live and recorded programming, our website received more than 36,000 visitors, and our Twitter feed has over 5,300 followers and climbing. With a mailing list of over 6,000 individuals, our sponsors’ logos and philanthropy appear in front of thousands of people via direct email, social media, print mail, events, and webpages.
We are currently pursuing sponsorships for our second annual fundraising gala: Clarion West After Dark. We seek donors at all levels, from Title Sponsor to Experience Sponsors (covering the cost of attractions such as a DJ, a photo booth, caterer, etc.), as well as in-kind donations such as media outlet coverage. Last year’s gala, our first big fundraising event, came in 36% over goal, earning over $40,000 to cover the costs of scholarships, world class instructors, ADA accessible classes, and much more!
