What is the Advisory Committee?

The advisory committee is a new collaboration of King County arts organizations, funders, and individuals that have a vested interest in supporting an affordable, shared residency space in Seattle.

What is the time commitment?

The committee will meet once each year and be asked to review and help select applicant organizations. Additional feedback and information requests, including surveys and letters of support may be requested from time to time throughout the year.

The committee responsibilities will include: 

• Advise on program needs and focus. 
• Review budget and expenses and advise on costing opportunities + setting rates for the next calendar year. 
• If needed, review and make final decisions on organization applicants. 
• Assist with outreach and fundraising to make the floor management and maintenance as affordable as possible.

Who is a good fit for the committee?

We are seeking organizations and individuals involved in King County’s Arts & Culture programs who are interested in helping to develop a truly unique opportunity in the heart of Seattle: a collaborative program in a shared space. The space can host up to 18 individuals with overnight accommodations and the goal is to make it available year-round for creating meaningful and affordable residency experiences for artists and writers.

We are especially interested in individuals and organizations that:

• Already have or are interested in hosting a residency in Seattle or a workshop for artists and writers;
• Have experience in building renovations and management;
• Have experience managing residency programs of any kind, but especially those with overnight stay;
• Are interested in volunteering in grant development, program review, and application design;
• Mission aligned organization with an interest in supporting emerging and underrepresented artists and writers;
• Are highly collaborative and excited to work with a diverse group of individuals and organizations;
• Can contribute at least two hours to an annual meeting and be responsive to email and survey requests throughout the year; and
• Live and/or work in King County.
