BIPOC Speculative Fiction Writers Meetup

July 20 @ 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

Come ready to write and relate in this quarterly meet-up for BIPOC writers based in Seattle. In each session we’ll encourage writers to generate new pieces in the company of like minded peers and invite openness and collaboration on getting through those tricky corners we get ourselves into with our work. There will also be the (optional) opportunity to share your work in progress. If you need inspiration, we’ll have a selection of prompts to help get creativity flowing. Most importantly, we’ll build connections in the BIPOC writing community from the greater Seattle area!

This drop-in group meets quarterly on the following dates:

Monday, July 20, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
Monday, October 12, 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Attendance at all sessions is not required!

What to expect:

After introductions and an ice breaker, the group will move into 30-ish minutes of generative writing with a brief and optional share back after each. After a short break, we’ll come together for a final check-in and close with a discussion of what participants might hope to see at future meetups.

Bring:

Your preferred writing tools!

Accessibility:

The main floor is wheel chair accessible and has two gender-neutral single stall bathrooms, one of which is wheel-chair accessible.

About the Host:

Rob Rodriguez is a 10+ year veteran of the coffee industry who decided moonlighting as a horror writer seemed like a “fun time”. Unsurprisingly, they enjoy horror movies of all (most) genres at home or one of the many local independent theaters in Seattle. To recharge after lurking in the dark, they spend time with close friends in town or online and enjoy scenic views across Seattle with their energetic, party-loving dog, Reggie. Together, they explore trails or towns on weekends and make quite a dynamic duo.
