EarthSeed—Celebrating Octavia E. Butler
June 23 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Join community members and local organizations for a special evening honoring Octavia Butler, an award-winning American science fiction author, pioneer of Afrofuturism, and former Lake Forest Park resident.
The program features a conversation exploring her impact on writers and artists, informational displays, and a reading of the City’s proclamation declaring Octavia E. Butler Day. Leading the discussion will be writers from Clarion West and contemporaries Nisi Shawl and Kathleen Alcalá, along with Caren Gussoff, recipient of the Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship.
Come be part of this meaningful tribute to one of literature’s most visionary voices.
