Putting Voice to Work in Horror and Dark Fantasy with Siobhan Carroll
We all know how important voice is to creating good fiction, but it can be a challenging element to practice in our own writing. In this workshop we’ll be focusing on voice in dark fiction. Whether you write horror or dark fantasy, voice can be an effective tool for hooking readers into plotlines, creating character, building atmosphere, and delivering strong endings. After consulting some classic works of literature for samples of effective voice, we’ll be using writing exercises to practice these skills. By the end of the workshop, you will have several scene starters in different voices to use as springboards for new stories or to incorporate into your WIP.
For everyone ages 18 and over.
